Former Dio guitarist Tracy G. revives classic with brazilian singer Fabiano Negri and unveils new Tracy G. Group lineup

Guitarist who played with Ronnie James Dio from 1993 to 1999 unveils the new incarnation of his band and prepares to release MAKKINAGEDOOM

Tracy G., the guitarist who was a member of Ronnie James Dio’s band from 1993 to 1999, has unveiled the new lineup of the Tracy G. Group with a newly recorded version of “Jesus, Mary and the Holy Ghost,” originally featured on Dio’s 1993 album Strange Highways.

The recording marks the first official introduction of the Tracy G. Group’s current lineup and revisits a song directly connected to one of the most significant chapters of Tracy G.’s career. Rather than simply looking back, however, the new version serves as a bridge between the guitarist’s work with Dio and the next phase of his own musical journey.

The current lineup features Tracy G. on guitar, Brazilian vocalist Fabiano Negri, veteran bassist Randy Oviedo, and Brazilian drummer Guto Aielo, a member of All Is Allowed.

Oviedo has maintained a long-standing musical partnership with Tracy G., while Negri handles lead vocals on the band’s forthcoming studio album. Aielo performed drums on the new recording of “Jesus, Mary and the Holy Ghost” and will also join the band for the upcoming tour in support of MAKKINAGEDOOM.

The lineup brings together musicians from different generations and backgrounds, combining Tracy G.’s international experience with the strength and individuality of Brazil’s heavy metal scene.

Originally released on Strange Highways, “Jesus, Mary and the Holy Ghost” comes from the period when Tracy G. was part of Dio’s band. During his tenure, the guitarist contributed to a heavier and more aggressive direction that helped define one of the most distinctive eras of Ronnie James Dio’s career.

The new recording revisits that history while giving the song a fresh interpretation through the current Tracy G. Group lineup. At the same time, it introduces the musicians who will be responsible for bringing the guitarist’s new original material to the stage.

That material will form the basis of MAKKINAGEDOOM, the upcoming Tracy G. Group album featuring 12 original tracks with Fabiano Negri on vocals.

The record draws heavily from the foundations of classic heavy metal, with strong influences from Black Sabbath and the darker, heavier sound associated with Dio-era releases including Dehumanizer (1992), Strange Highways (1993), and Angry Machines (1996).

For Tracy G., finding the right vocalist was crucial to shaping the album’s identity.

“Fabiano has a great voice and is an extremely versatile vocalist. He is also very creative, writing his own melodies and lyrics. When I sent him the first song and heard what he did with it, I immediately knew I had found the perfect combination. He delivers incredibly emotional performances, writes amazing melodies and lyrics, and brings a unique identity to the songs. We made a fantastic album!”

Negri brings a distinct vocal character to the material, adding a new dimension to Tracy G.’s compositions while maintaining the album’s connection to the classic heavy metal tradition. The result brings together decades of experience with a new creative partnership and a lineup built for the next stage of the project.

The first original song from this new era will be “Human Reptile,” the lead single from MAKKINAGEDOOM, scheduled for release on September 11.

The track will serve as the first official preview of the album’s original material and offer the first full glimpse into the musical direction of the new Tracy G. Group.

MAKKINAGEDOOM will arrive in full on October 30. The album represents a new chapter for Tracy G., expanding his work beyond his historic association with Ronnie James Dio and placing his own compositions and current creative vision at the forefront.

In that context, the new version of “Jesus, Mary and the Holy Ghost” carries particular weight. The song is rooted in Tracy G.’s history as a member of Dio’s band, but the new recording is ultimately about where the guitarist is headed next.

By revisiting a composition from a defining period of his career, Tracy G. acknowledges an important part of his musical history while introducing a new lineup and a body of original material that stands on its own.

With “Human Reptile” arriving in September, MAKKINAGEDOOM following in October, and a supporting tour on the horizon, the Tracy G. Group is officially entering its next era — one built on heavy metal tradition, decades of experience, and a renewed creative identity.
